Born November 28, 1935, in Wyandotte, she was the daughter of the late Frances A. and Elizabeth M. (Rushlow) Beaker. She attended St. Frances Xavier High School, graduating with the class of 1953. Betty married her beloved husband, Henry Earl Krimmel on November 26, 1956 at Saint Francis Xavier. They were married for 52 years. Sadly, he preceded her in death on October 27, 2008.In 1983 Betty purchased Madelyn’s clothing store where she owned and operated her business until her retirement and store closing in 2013. She was a member of St. Vincent Pallotti Parish for more than forty-eight years where she served on the parish counsel for many years.

Betty was also a member and Past President of the Downriver League of Junior Catholic Women. She was very active in her community, serving as the Bicentennial Coordinator for Wyandotte’s celebration and activities, member and Past President of her chapter of Soroptimist- an organization for women in business, and served for nearly forty years on Wyandotte’s Planning Commission, many of those as Chairperson. Betty loved going dancing with her husband; the two religiously attended dinner dances, almost weekly. She was an avid golfer and looked forward to golfing with her fellow “Yellow Birds” locally and abroad. Betty was an exquisite seamstress and crocheter; not only did she create her own wedding dress, but hand made many of her daughter’s formal dresses throughout their lives. She also enjoyed traveling and playing Bridge which, she often played three times per week. Betty was selfless and a tireless female leader in her community; she was honest and a dedicated advocate for those she represented. She had a spirited personality and was extremely optimistic.
