Family Tribute

“Yesterday is gone.  Forget it.

Tomorrow is  promised to no one..

Today is a gift from God.

Make the most of it.”

Joyce Ilene Larkin,  Mother of 8, Grandmother to 25, Great Grandmother to 35, had the above quote on her refrigerator for years. She made the most of it.

Born in 1926, Joyce was raised in Detroit with her sisters Betty, Delores and Nancy, and her beloved brother Leo. She attended school at St. Bernards,  Annunciation, and All Saints.  A pivotal point in her life happened when her friend Nora, introduced her cousin, Daniel Larkin to her.

Meeting Danny Larkin, marrying, raising her family,  Joyce experienced laughter, sadness, joy, disappointment but most of all… love. It is love that created our family and carries this family forward each day.  Joyce is the wellspring from which we, her children, drew this grand sense of family.  And there is no doubt, this love of family is being replicated over and over in her children and grandchildren lives. What a gift! What a legacy!

The heart does have it’s own memory, Mom, and our hearts are full. Thanks for everything.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are greatly appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
