George Arvin Beaubien of Southgate, Michigan, passed away on October 10, 2026, at age 85.

George was born on June 18, 1941, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to the late Arvin and Shirley (Burns) Beaubien. He spent his childhood exploring and having adventures with his sister, Gayle Green, and later with his brother, Barry Beaubien. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte with the Class of 1959.

George met his high school sweetheart at the Neisner’s Dime Store in 1956, and while they initially took different paths, destiny brought them back together in 2012; they married on July 29, 2016. They loved their yard, sitting on their porch playing gin, taking rides in the Mustang, and spending time with their collective family.

George thrived in his banking career, beginning at People’s Bank in Trenton in 1969, where he led their first credit card program, then moving to Security Bank and Trust, and eventually retiring from Sterling Bank.

George loved to travel with his first wife, Sheila (Beaulieu) Beaubien, especially taking their girls and grandchildren to the Outer Banks. A true Detroiter descendant of one of the original families who arrived in 1701, he loved everything auto-related and was the proud steward of multiple vintage cars (Mustangs preferred!) and even several vintage boats. He was a true lifelong learner. George was an avid reader and would spend hours studying topics that interested him. He attended classes on anything that caught his interest and participated in classes through the Wren Society at the College of William and Mary in Colonial Williamsburg.

Of all the things that made George’s life rich and full, nothing made him prouder than his girls, Brigid (Tim Costello) Beaubien and Beth Beaubien. As children, he spent hours playing baseball, riding bikes, going to the beach, and reading to them – but the role he most cherished was that of Papa to Julia (Erik) Ramseyer and Alex (Paula) Grimaudo, and “Mr. George” to Jake, Ally, Luke, Maria, and Thomas.

George is survived by his devoted wife of 10 years, Patricia; his children, Brigid (Tim Costello) Beaubien and Beth Beaubien; his stepchildren, Tom (Tina) DeBone, Tim DeBone, Jill (Brian) Ainsworth, and Amy (Mark) Gilstorf; and his grandchildren, Julia (Erik), Alex (Paula), Jake, Allison, Luke, Maria, and Thomas; and his siblings, Gayle Green and Barry (Mary) Beaubien

His family will particularly miss the little ditties he made up throughout the day and his special burgers on the grill.

Contributions of your choice in George’s name are appreciated.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen
