Past Funerals that happened November 2021 – October 2022

It is with great sadness we announce that Maureen Fielder, 43, of Grosse Ile, Michigan died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 15, 2022.

Born May 3, 1978 to Keith and Ann (Conroy) Fielder, Maureen lived with passion, determination, and generosity. A graduate of Grosse Ile High School, John Carroll University (B.S.), and Marygrove College (Masters in the Art of Teaching), Maureen was an honors students and track star who turned to distance running after college, completing numerous marathons including Boston.

A natural educator, Maureen’s love of numbers inspired her work as a high school math teacher where she guided hundreds of students to think analytically and truly understand the material. Her mentorship of students carried over from the classroom to the track and cross country field where she worked to instill confidence and bring out the best in each individual.

Maureen was an avid reader and puzzler, who enjoyed both crosswords and Sudoku. She loved the water; whether she was water skiing, relaxing on a boat with friends and family, or floating in the pool on a bright pink flamingo; life was better in a swim suit. Her remarkable memory was regularly on display – easily reciting entire scenes of movies, little-known stats about her beloved Detroit Tigers, and, much to the dismay of her friends and family, what really happened at most any event. Whether she was training for a marathon, hustling to make her TV’s Diner customers’ meal an enjoyable experience, or taking care of the details of a real estate customer, Maureen had an incredible work ethic, regularly demonstrating her determination and dedication.

By far, Maureen’s greatest legacy was her generosity. At school and on the track she was deeply committed to helping those who needed her support the most. At the restaurant and the real estate office she displayed professionalism, wisdom, and her sharp sense of humor. She deeply loved her family and easily shared her affection in small ways – she had a knack for picking out the perfect cards – and big – her hugs could only be described as bear-like. Those who knew her will not forget. Those who loved her will keep her close. The imprint she left on our hearts far exceeds the amount of time we were able to share together.

Maureen will be deeply missed by her partner Scott Ranspach, parents Keith and Ann Fielder, brother John Paul Fielder, sister-in-law Kelly DiNardo, nephew Oliver Fielder, and an abundance of family – both the family she was blessed to be born into and the family she chose along the way. Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Don and Pat Fielder and Tim and Janet Conroy, and cousins Michaeleen and Chrissie Conroy.

To honor Maureen’s passion, determination, and generosity, we ask, in lieu of flowers, to please contribute to the Maureen Fielder Fund (tinyurl.com/MaureenFielder) which will support high school students interested in attending a two or four year institution with a focus on mathematics/engineering and an in interest in athletics.

Maureen lived by her favorite song quote ” when you give it away, it all comes back tenfold they say…” Oak Ridge Boys

It is with great sadness we share the news of the death of Fr. Gerry who was born in his beloved Knockaderry, County Limerick, Ireland. After Secondary school, Fr Gerry entered the Pallottine Seminary in Thurles, County Tipperary. Fr Gerry made his First Consecration on September 12, 1963 and was ordained a priest on June 8, 1968 in the Cathedral in Thurles. His first assignment after ordination was to Makiungu Parish in Tanzania, East Africa. While there he also served in Singida Parish and Kirondotal & Kiomboi. He did an enormous amount of work during his time on the missions. Fr. Gerry put new seats in the old church; but now there is a beautiful cathedral in Singida. Fr Gerry was very kind and outgoing in nature. He was a favorite with young and old alike. He could spend hours getting stories out of the old men and women. While Fr Gerry was in Makiungu he endeared himself to all. He was completely selfless and always ready to help.

In 1972, he was reassigned to London, England as associate pastor in the Pallottine Parishes of Barking & Greenford prior to being transferred to The United States in 1976, where he brought the same selfless qualities. His first appointment in the United States was to Ely, Nevada.  In 1979 he was moved to Idalou/Lorenzo, Texas; in 1985 to Stephenville, Texas and in 1990 Fr. Gerry was appointed to St. Joseph Parish in Wyandotte, Michigan where he served for 10 years. During that time Fr Gerry made many lifelong friends. While ministering in St. Joseph Parish Fr. Gerry undertook the task of building the parish hall and made it his goal to visit every family in the parish. With his great encouragement and kind words Fr. Gerry served everyone. He was kind and caring to all, never having a cross word to say. In the year 2000

Fr. Gerry left St. Joseph Parish to continue his ministry at St. Nicholas, Capac & St. John the Evangelist, Allenton Michigan, Saint Aloysius Gonzaga in Romulus, Saint Christopher, Detroit, Michigan and in 2009 Fr. Gerry was blessed to join St. Anne Church, Ortonville, Michigan. After 53 years of active ministry, Fr Gerry gracefully retired in September 2021. Throughout his years in ministry, Fr Gerry generously promoted and supported the Pallottine Foreign Missions.

Fr Gerry will be deeply missed by his loving sisters Mary and Rena, his nieces and nephews as well as his Pallottine Community. Fr. Gerry was predeceased by his loving parents, Thomas and Kathleen and his brother Tom. Fr. Gerry will be deeply missed by his many friends and the parishioners he served in Wyandotte and throughout the world. He will be fondly remembered as a wonderful man and a dedicated priest. Fr Gerry recently said “The priesthood gave me inner-peace. Becoming a priest has brought me a peace of mind that I cannot put into words. You can’t have inner-peace all the time, rather there are situations in life that can disturb you—so I ask God every day for the gift of peace. There have been times I’ve struggled in life and times I’ve experienced some crosses too —but I never had any regrets about my calling”. May Fr Gerry rest in peace in the glory of Eternal Life. Fr Gerry will lay in repose on June 2nd, 12 noon to 8pm. Funeral celebration June 3rd at 1pm—St Joseph Church Wyandotte.

The Trenton community lost one of its most beloved citizens on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 when Frank Edward Sall suddenly passed away at the age of 56. He was always that person who any neighbor, friend, or family member could call upon at a moment’s notice. If you were ever in need, he was always there to lend a hand. It was never too late, too far, or too big of a request for Frank.

Many called him a saint for his kindness and devotion to serving others, but he was also a saint for gracefully walking the path that he was given in life when he was born into a family of one son and five daughters. Oh how his sisters adored him, loved him, smothered him, bossed him around, and idolized him. He was the lone brother who made their family special. He was always there to listen, to give advice, to tease, to lend money (charging interest, of course!), to ground them, and to be their escape from all of that estrogen.

Frank’s deep entrenchment in a home full of women taught him how to find the ultimate wife, Karen Maguire, while they attended the University of Michigan. She was truly his soulmate and this was immediately apparent to Frank. Throughout their 34-year marriage, their love grew ever stronger as the years went by- always together, and always laughing. They enjoyed biking, yoga, traveling, wine tasting, and spending time at their lake house with family and friends. A love like theirs is rare and an inspiration to all.

Always an entrepreneur from a young age, Frank worked hard to support his family and ultimately became the CEO of a successful company, Impact Environmental. He was a hands-on, out in the field boss who possessed an unmatched work ethic. He was always working, teaching, and connecting with his employees and customers who admired him and valued his expertise.

Although Frank loved to work, his number one priority was his family. He was the quintessential father, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle, son-in-law, and brother-in-law. Everyone loved Frank and wanted to be around him. Any room Frank entered was lit up by his quick wit, infectious smile, humor, and storytelling prowess. The children in Frank’s family, especially his grandchildren, gravitated toward “the child whisperer.” They loved their ‘Papa’ and he loved them. Being with Nora and Luca became his favorite hobby and fascination in life. He lived to be with them.

He will be deeply missed by the many who loved him. He leaves behind his loving wife, Karen Sall, his three children Dr. Lauren Sall (Charlie Peffley), Max Sall and Brenden Sall (Amanda O’Dell), grandchildren Nora and Luca Peffley, his mother, Gloria Sall, and his five sisters Laurie Sall, Diane Santori, Lynn Jimenez, Catherine Tulauskas, and Kristin Henry. He was predeceased by his father, Frank M. Sall, the former mayor of Lincoln Park. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please send donations to the charity for children, St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The viewing will be at Martenson Funeral home in Trenton, MI on Sunday, May 22nd from 2:00pm-8:00pm, with rosary at 6:00pm. The funeral service will be on Monday, May 23rd at 10:00am at St. Vincent Pallotti Parish in Wyandotte, MI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Frank to St. Jude Children Research Hospital
