Since 1965, Gabriel Richard Catholic High School in Riverview has provided an atmosphere in which students strive to not only reach their highest academic potential, but to strengthen and live their faith while developing leadership and social skills that are crucial for continued success.

Christian Service – God Bless GR Hockey Team

December 2018 – During Christmas, the hockey team wanted to do something special this year. So through the help of one of the mom’s, they decided to adopt a family in need for the holiday. Money was raised by collecting returnable bottles and having a jeans day with the GR student body. the team went shopping and bought gifts, plus a bed for one of the seven year old boys in the family. The day the gifts were delivered, the team met for prayers thanking God for the family. These young men experienced the true meaning of Christmas!

Academic Excellence

With 15 Advanced Placement (AP) courses and 12 honors classes, Gabriel Richard provides a rigorous academic environment that challenges, nurtures and prepares students for life beyond high school.  100 percent of our school’s graduates are accepted to college each year, and our students consistently exceed state and national averages on standardized tests, including the ACT.

A Community Built on Faith, Knowledge and Service

At Gabriel Richard, we encourage our students to grow in their understanding of themselves, in their relationship with God, and in their relationship with others.  Our students attend weekly mass, engage in daily prayer and participate in community service each year. Last year alone, GR students provided more than 7,000 hours of help to those in need!

More Than 50 Years of Excellence in Catholic Education

As we celebrate more than 50 years of excellence in Catholic education, we continue to enhance our programs and curriculum.

  • In 2014, we launched our 1:1 technology program by installing wireless Internet throughout the campus.  We also provided a free Chromebook with touchscreen to each student enrolled and became the first school in Michigan to implement a Chrome@home Program.
  • Our Academic Learning Center provides students with one-on-one tutoring, assistance with homework, and a safe place to hang out after school.
  • Last winter, we unveiled our new, state-of-the-art floating gym floor.
  • Finally, we installed a one-of-kind, multipurpose artificial turf field. The turf field has provided immediate benefit to our student-athletes and has allowed us to offer boys’ lacrosse in the spring of 2016.

Developing Each Individual as a Whole

Our extracurricular programs offer something for everyone, including 20 varsity sports teams that promote sportsmanship and integrity; a vibrant fine and performing arts program; and several after-school clubs and leadership opportunities.  90 percent of our students are involved in at least one extracurricular activity.

I invite you to come and experience the difference a Catholic education can make. It’s a great time to be a Pioneer!

Your’s in Christ,

Mr. Joseph Whalen
