Paul Anthony Tata, 64, of Taylor, MI, passed away on April 13, 2024, in his hometown. He was born on July 25, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan. Paul was a retired US Steel employee, having dedicated 37 years of his life to the company. He worked at the 80-inch Mill as a Scarfer Charger and Furnace Operator and was a proud member of USW Local 1299.

Paul was a quiet but intricate individual with an OCD personality, known for his meticulous organization in every aspect of his life. He found joy in caring for his yard, feeding the birds, planting gardens, and attending street fairs and festivals. His love for music spanned across various genres, from oldies to jazz, rock and roll, country, and classics, each holding a special place in his heart.

He is survived by his beloved domestic companion, Lorrie Sochocki, and daughters Brianne Sochocki, Alyssa Perry (Riley), and grandson Jonathan. He is also survived by daughter Ashley (Zack) Hodgson, daughter Ella Hodgson, son Andrew Tata (Hanna), Samuel, and Scarlette Tata, sister Colleen Krumbach (Kevin), niece Jennifer Misiora, nephew Steven Misiora (Samantha), and their sons Evan and Tyler. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Primo and Patricia Tata and brother William Tata.

Paul’s educational journey began at Taylor Kennedy High School, where he laid the foundation for his successful career. His commitment to his work at US Steel was admirable, and his dedication to his hobbies was equally noteworthy. He found solace in the simple pleasures of life, always finding significance and interest in everything he did.

Heaven gained an angel, and we lost the kindest, funniest, most selfless, and loving person we’ve ever known.  He was an amazing husband, dad, grandpa, friend and neighbor.  He was the heart of the family.  Always happy.  Always present.  Always loved!   We were truly blessed to have him as long as we did.  He was/is an inspiration to be a better person and enjoy every minute.  He will be missed more than words can ever express.

Beloved husband of Margaret.  Loving father of Marianne (Ronald) Bottrell, Jeanette (Kevin) Murphy and Daniel (Michelle) Cialkowski.

Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

John 14: 1-4

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”
