Henry Stanley Piwowar was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 14, 1922. He was one of six children born from the union of Albert Piwowar and Victoria (Kwoka) Piwowar. He graduated from Ford Trade School in 1940 and enlisted in the United States Army in 1943. After serving this great nation during World War II, Henry married Florence Rolecki in 1948. In 1952 they built a home in Dearborn where they had two children, Daniel and Yvonne. Henry worked for Ford Motor Company for over forty years as a tool and die maker. He retired in 1980. Florence passed in 1984.
Henry met Helen at a dance in 1984. The couple became well known for their love of polka dancing, church festivals, casino visits, as well as their matching outfits whenever they went out. They married in 1989 and resided in Wyandotte for the duration of their marriage. Helen passed in 2023.
Throughout his more than a century of life, Henry experienced so much and witnessed a world of change. He had an unforgettable smile that was a reminder of a life well-lived and a spirit undimmed by time. He had a great sense of humor and was always eager to make people laugh.
Henry was a devout Christian and as a believer, his life was defined by his deep Catholic faith. Henry leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished memories, and valuable life lessons that will continue to inspire those who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed.
Henry Stanley Piwowar, age 102, of Wyandotte, passed away while under the care of Angela Hospice in Livonia on Saturday March 8, 2025. His passing was preceded by his first wife: Florence; his second wife: Helen; four siblings: Joseph, Frances, Helen and Wally; and a stepson: Timothy Nester.
To cherish his memory, he leaves: a son: Daniel (Nancy) Piwowar; a daughter: Yvonne Piwowar-Berry; a sister: Sister Mary Modesta Piwowar; two stepchildren: Jean Ann Boyes and William (Noreen) Nester; three grandchildren: Jonathan (Jessica) Berry, Kara (Derek) Gelven, and Kevin (Jordan) Piwowar; two step grandchildren: Alex Boyes (Jodi Ferlito), Jarod Boyes; five great-grandchildren: Taylor, Jackson, Hannah, Violet, and June; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday; March 14, 2025, at Molnar Funeral Homes-Nixon Chapel; 2544 Biddle Avenue, Wyandotte, Michigan 48192 where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm. He will lie in state from 9:30am until 10:00am on Saturday March 15, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church within the St. Pallotti Parish; 334 Elm Street, Wyandotte, Michigan 48192. The Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:00am with Fr. Brendan McCarrick officiating. A procession to Mt. Carmel Cemetery will immediately follow the Mass.
