Joseph N. Czapski, 91 years, peacefully passed away on January 17, 2025. One of many unsung heroes that families feel blessed to have known, he was an honest man with a strong work ethic, a true gentleman and a devoted husband and father. After serving in the U.S. Army (member of Pvt. John Łyskawa VFW Post #7546) he married Patricia (née Pogorzelski) and settled in Garden City where they lived for more than 25 years before moving to Dearborn. He was top salesman and manager for Fuller Brush Company and the first to hire an all-female sales team. Afterwards he accepted a position at Michigan Memorial Park Inc. where he worked for nearly 40 years as top salesman, sales manager and ultimately general manager. Joe is known and loved by so many for his accordion and keyboard music. Birthdays, weddings and earlier times at Camp Dearborn were not a party until Joe Czapski pulled out his accordion. In retirement he continued with his music, performing at numerous venues in the Detroit area and was a legend every Paczki Day at Paris Bakery. Joe is deeply missed by his wife of 69 years, Patricia Ann Czapski; daughter Colette Czapski Hemingway and husband Sean; daughter Deborah Czapski Gregory and husband Richard; daughter Patrice Ann Czapski and husband Scott McManus; and grandchildren Polina and Maxim Gregory, Sophia and Joe McManus, and Anouk Hemingway. He is the son of Anna (née Ziemla) and Joseph Czapski, and brother of Dorothy Omichinski, Richard Czapski and Anne Marie Marlett. Please consider donating in his name to donate.savethemusic.org. Joe would have loved it!
