Veronica (Ronnie) Agnes Leciejewski, a loving mother and cherished Busia and Great Busia, passed away peacefully on Nov. 30, 2024. Ronnie was a longtime resident of Wyandotte, Michigan where she lived for over 70 years. She was a lover of life and her resilience and stubbornness is what gave her 93 wonderful years! Her family was very important to her and she insisted on hosting all holiday gatherings until the age of 91.
She loved to crochet and devoted a great deal of time making hats for teens in need. She felt this age group were often the forgotten ones. During the Covid Pandemic, she spent countless hours making masks for grade schoolers when the mask supply was critical. Her donation to hundreds of children, shows her true, generous soul.
Ronnie loved Hummingbirds and they would bring her great delight every time she encountered one. She enjoyed playing cards and if you had the time, Kings in the Corner was her game of choice.
She was a longtime member of the Red Hatters Society and enjoyed the sisterhood and comradery of the group. Ronnie remained active in her community for many years. Even into her late 80’s, she would spend time handing out food to those in need, along with participating in toy drives during the Christmas season.
Her joy for dancing was seen at many Polish gatherings where she and her sister Mary would dance away the night. Her devotion to her Polish heritage and Catholic faith was something she carried throughout her life and shared so deeply with her family.
Ronnie is preceded in death by her husband Leo Leciejewski, son Joseph, siblings, Frank, Joseph, and Stanley Gondek and sisters Mary Ryska and Helen Szpara. She is survived by her children, Larry (Diane), Curt (Tracy), Jeff (Yvonne), Kevin, and Denise, (Kevin) Kowalski. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erik, Brent, Shannon, Derek, Ryan, Dana, Joseph, Benjamin, Jessica & Zachary, along with 11 great grandchildren.
Ronnie’s forthright personality and generosity will live on in our hearts. She will be remembered for her wonderful Polish cooking, love of family and her enormous sweet tooth.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 8.p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5th, 2024 at Czopek Funeral Home, Wyandotte. She will lie in state at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6th at St. Vincent Pallotti Parish, Wyandotte. Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery.
