The Office of Family Ministry invites families raising children with disabilities to hear an inspirational presentation over dinner and dessert. The Weight of the Call will be presented by Erin Jeffries, the Coordinator of Ministry to Persons with Special Needs for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
If asked, Erin Jeffries will tell you one of her greatest joys, and her greatest motivation in her work is her younger sister, Mary, who has multiple disabilities stemming from illness followed by a stroke when she was very young. Jeffries has served on the National Catholic Partnership on Disability (NCPD) Council on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and is currently serving on the Board of Directors. Before working for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, she taught at Catholic schools in both her home state of Oregon and in Indianapolis. Jeffries is in formation with the Secular Carmelites (OCDS) and holds a Master of Arts degree in Theology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Education from Franciscan University of Steubenville, in Ohio.
This event is free, with many thanks to Ascension Health of Southeast Michigan for their support.
