Past Funerals that happened November 2022 – October 2023

Kevin Sheahan, 72, of Wyandotte, MI, passed away January 28, 2023, after nearly two years of living with metastatic melanoma.

Kevin was the beloved brother of Maureen Sheahan (Al Cholger) and Patrick Sheahan (Colleen Sheahan), the dear uncle of Elizabeth Stands, and loved by many cousins and friends.

Kevin moved to Wyandotte in 2016 for his retirement after a career in workers’ compensation insurance, enjoying time at its lovely riverside parks. He grew up in Oak Park and attended Catholic Central High School in Detroit, Wayne State University and Detroit College of Law. His first home as an adult was in Palmer Park, Detroit and then he later moved to Southfield.

Kevin was a devoted Catholic, an avid reader of local papers and the New York Times, and enjoyed his most-seasons back porch. He sought out political discussions with family, indulged in action and super-hero movies with good friends, and liked 60’s music and jazz.

He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and love as a brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

A memorial will be held at St. Vincent Pallotti Parish, St. Joseph Church, 334 Elm St., Wyandotte MI 48192 on January 31, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow. Kevin will be interred with his parents at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

No flowers please. Donations in his honor to Alternatives for Girls, Detroit; Oxfam America; and COTS Detroit are welcome.

Peter W. Wood was born on September 16, 1952 in Wyandotte, MI to his parents Richard H. Wood and Sally L. Wood. He was a Grosse Ile resident for most of this life. He graduated from Grosse Ile High School in 1969 and attended Eastern Michigan University before he began his career as a master modeler at Ford Motor Company. He retired from Ford in 2016.

Peter married his wife Susan in 1985. Shortly after, the family moved to Germany for Peter’s work for 4 years and returned to Trenton, Michigan in 1990. A few years after that, Peter moved his family back to Grosse Ile, where he lived for the remainder of his life.

Peter was very creative and was a talented artist. He was a lover of music and enjoyed playing the guitar. He enjoyed talking about and learning about anything related to history and politics. Peter loved dogs and dogs loved him. He was blessed with 4 grand-dogs who miss him greatly. He took great pleasure in watching the birds on the island and fed them faithfully each morning.

Peter was a boy scout leader for 12 years and they benefitted from his creativity, among other things. Peter was proud to be politically incorrect and had the most unique sense of humor. He was a hoot!

Peter loved America and was a true patriot. Most importantly, Peter often spoke of his faith in Jesus and the power of “giving it all to God”.

Peter loved his family and cared for them until his last day. He was always there to support and guide them and continues to be their strength in this difficult time. Peter is survived by Susan, his wife of 37 years, and by his 3 children Michelle, Robi (Ali), and Kati. He is already greatly missed.
